To start fragging you need to have some tools, here are some tools of the Trade.
1.) A towel – Take care of any spills
2.) Cutting Board – Clean flat working surface
3.) Scalpel – Sharp Cutting instrument
4.) Couple of Containers – Hold some tank water
5.) Plastic Mesh
6.) Elastic Band
Last but not least Gloves and Eye Protection!
In this case I am using a disposable scalpel, I will reuse it again as they are quiet good.
A Close up of the mesh.
Filled one of the containers with 10mm Coral sand and some tank water.
And here we have the volunteer having a relaxing time, not knowing what I have in store for him.
Now that we have everything ready and in place we can start:
1.) Remove the unsuspecting volunteer from the tank carefully and place him on the cutting board.
NOTE: Disturb the Sarcophyton sp a little before removing it so the tentacles will retract
2.) Place the Sarcophyton sp “Face” down on the Cutting board and Proceed to cut a ring around about 1″ from the edge and you will end up with something like this.
3.) Cut the ring into 1″ peices.
4.) Place all the pieces into the Container with the Coral Sand or rubble.
5.) Now use the mesh and the elastic band to cover the container, this is so the Frags do not float away. Place the Frags back into the Tank in a area that has low flow.
Here they are 1 day later.
And here is our Volunteer after surgery.
